The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is studying the widening of US-23 in Ann Arbor in a project which includes three expansion alternatives. Expanding freeway capacity will worsen air and noise pollution, expand carbon emissions, and further commits our community to an auto-centric development pattern which runs counter to our local and state goals. It’s proven that new lanes do not “fix” congestion — people just drive more and land uses sprawl.

Our demand is simple: build Trains Not Lanes!

We oppose all three proposed widening options of US-23 between I-94 and M-14 in Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti.

Are you affected? The project extends from the I-94 interchange to M-14, and includes the Washtenaw, Geddes, and Plymouth Road exits.
